Bangladesh, under the Yunus government, continues to fail in providing security and freedom of religion to its minorities
Bangladesh has consistently failed to safeguard its minority communities, particularly Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, and indigenous groups, from violence, discrimination and social exclusion. Despite being a nation built on diverse cultural and religious roots, the government and society have often left minorities vulnerable to attacks, intimidation, and displacement. Over the years, numerous incidents of targeted killings, temple vandalization, land encroachment, and arson attacks have highlighted the lack of protection for these communities.
This has escalated dramatically since August 2024’s ousting of Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the country’s power transitioning to Mohammad Yunus as the caretaker government.
